5 stars out of 5

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

This book should be called Romeo & Juliet Get a Happy Ending.

This book is AMAZING. It gets all the stars. I smiled and laughed and squeed my way through the entire thing. I may have even cried once or twice. I have nothing to nitpick about it. Absolutely nothing. In all seriousness, it is perfection. Daniel is the cinnamon roll to end all cinnamon rolls. Alexis is the best. The friends are fantastic. The dialogue is *chef’s kiss*. There are adorable animals. The plot was believable and compelling. It was steamy and lovely and hilarious and emotional.

👉 From my original review back in October:

I’m in awe of how Abby Jimenez makes writing characters with such depth and humanity look so effortless. So much of the book is normal romcom romance and angst and relationship drama but she elevates the whole genre when she works in topics like privilege, status, grace, kindness, and integrity. It also deals with the heavy topics of emotional abuse and domestic violence in a smart and sensitive way.  That’s part of what makes this book so special.

This is a dual perspective story which is usually not my preference but I actually really loved getting to access both Alexis and Daniel’s experiences. Individually, they’re both lovely and interesting people. I love that Alexis is an ER doctor. That she chose one of the most challenging, least glamorous specialties in medicine tells us a lot about her character. And Daniel is a genuinely good dude. Full stop cinnamon roll perfection right here. He’s a man who’s not afraid to tell a woman how he feels or let others see it. He loves animals, cares for his friends, and treats others with respect. Not a whiff of toxic masculine bullshit. Top notch book boyfriend material. There’s no way you can not root for these two.

I loved this book right from the beginning but it just kept getting better and better and better. It was such a pleasure to read. This is definitely going on my Faves Of 2022 list. I got this eARC last fall and had never read any of Jimenez's books at that time so I was excited to delve into her previous works after reading this. Now after having read the uber-popular The Friend Zone and Happy Ever After Playlist, I have to say Part of Your World is hands down my favorite and the best of them all.

I loved it so much and can’t recommend it highly enough.

cw: emotional and physical/domestic abuse
