I feel like I was excessively distractible this month - only managed to get 8 books read. (Well, 7 and a smidge of an eighth.) But I enjoyed most of them A LOT. Book buying ban? I don’t know her.  🕶  Okay so I know I said I needed to stop buying books. But in my defense I had a few bucks saved up at Pango Books from a few sales I made so I bought a first edition signed copy of   What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera. It was a really good deal, too. So then of course I had to grab the new release sequel Here’s To Us . Can’t have one without the other, amirite? Never read these before but I’ve heard a lot about them. Hopefully they live up to the hype.  Then I spent my Amazon rewards points on Before We Disappear , Love At First Spite (which is excellent! Buy it, read it!), and Float Plan . I had an ulterior motive  another reason for buying the last two, which was to add them to my Blue & Yellow book shelves! Like a lot of people, I think, I really need to pull back on how many books I buy. I have this massive TBR pile that I desperately want to get through (why can’t I read 47 books at once??? 😭) and seriously need to stop adding to it already.  I still have a dozen or so preorders waiting on their release dates, scattered throughout 2022. My Book of the Month club membership is a potential extra dozen books or so, one sprinkled in every few weeks. And I recently signed up for Illumicrate’s two subscriptions: their regular monthly book box and their quarterly romance-centric sub, Afterlight. So I definitely have those to look forward to, like little Christmas gifts throughout the year. I won’t exactly be hard up for new books, whether they’re just new to me or new to everyone. So I’m going to try to be good and not seek out new books quite so much while I bulldoze my way through my TBR. And I’m going to try to be better about impulse purchases… like the ones below… 😬 I came across...

 Ok so I went a little crazy this month. Not sure why. But here’s the books I got this month to add to my way out of control TBR pile. I think my New Years resolution for 2022 is going to have to be Read Only From the TBR!  I am so excited to have discovered Olivia Dade, Lucy Lennox, and Jenny Holiday. I absolutely adore All The Feels, Virgin Flyer, and Duke Actually. I’m also very much looking forward to trying Maggie Stiefvater’s Raven cycle books and trying Colleen Hoover. I’ve heard so much about both of them. I read the first chapter of Shadow and Bone and I have high hopes it’ll be enjoyable. A very interesting world in that book. Can’t wait to see where it goes…  After reading CS Pacat’s Captive Prince trilogy this year, I’m super eager to try Dark Rise. I have no idea what to expect with Caraval but I wanted to give it a try. I think my 2022 TBR is looking pretty good! Have you read any of these? Any faves? Disappointments? Thoughts?

 These just arrived and I am so excited! I’ve already read the Captive Prince trilogy and Jay’s Gay Agenda (they are uhh MAYYY zingggg!) but I had to have them for my bookshelf. The rest are being added to my TBR pile and I hope to get to them very soon. (Sorry to the books that have been on my TBR forever. 😬) I’ve only read three of Cat Sebastian’s books (Two Rogues Make a Right, and the two Cabot novellas) and I am a HUGE fan of her style. I’ve heard so much about The Queer Principles of Kit Webb and am so excited to get to it. She writes such great characters and always has a wonderful, smart sense of humor. She’s the best. Payback’s a Witch is one of those cute seasonal holiday finds that I was intrigued by. I think it’ll be a great Halloween read next week. In Deeper Waters I know less about but I know I’ve read a lot of excellent reviews for it and really look forward to digging in. Not really sure what to expect from Dark Rise , and it’s not normally a genre I read muc...
